The unusually warm weather we have experienced recently, together with the promise from the weather forecasters of better and warmer sunny days just around the corner, can really only mean one thing: spring is finally here once and for all.

Whether we get a few great days, or a longer spell of warmer weather, it’s time to have a sort out and ensure you purchase those essentials for your SS19 wardrobe. And let’s face it, we can never truly depend on the weather forecasts these days, so it’s important to make sure you have something to cover all the weather types because it isn’t all about shorts and t-shirts – although you will need some of those.

Here is our guide to those all-important SS19 essential menswear items for your wardrobe that will have you stepping out in style in the season ahead.

Essential jeans

You might think that as soon as the hot weather hits, it is time to consign the jeans to the back of your wardrobe ready for the winter season, but the right jeans can still play a big part in your essential SS19 wardrobe. Skinny ripped jeans are the perfect item to have in any summer wardrobe, so if you haven’t already got a pair you should certainly consider this versatile purchase. They can be dressed up or down with either a bold patterned shirt or one of this season’s essential t-shirts for a great look. Still not convinced? Men’s ripped jeans are surprisingly cooler to wear than standard jeans thanks to the rips— so, if the temperature rises, you might want to give them a go.

Shorts galore

When the weather really heats up, shorts really are the best choice for keeping cool. When it comes to casual daywear, they are ideal, and the right pair of shorts can be dressed up, especially on holiday, for an evening out. Denim shorts are a perfect choice if you want something that looks smart yet casual and will coordinate well with pretty much any choice of top, both casual or smarter, with little effort at all.

If you want something altogether more casual, then plump for some swim shorts in a bolder pattern. These are perfect for that summer holiday, whether you want to relax by the pool or prefer to stroll along the beach or relax at the beach bar.

The perfect t-shirt

When it comes to staying cool in the summer, t-shirts have been a wardrobe staple for a very long time. The styles and patterns, maybe even the “go-to colours”, have changed, but the t-shirt is such a practical garment and will certainly be remaining on our essential menswear list for this coming season.

For those extra hot days, the sleeveless t-shirt gets our vote every time, and plain block colours work perfectly with almost every type of shorts. Drop shoulder t-shirts, however, shouldn’t be forgotten about either. They are designed to be a little looser which is ideal in the warmer weather and bright patterns, stripes or if you prefer bold block colours are the perfect combination with denim shorts or ripped jeans. These are great for keeping you cool but stylish with little effort. Go as bold as you like or stick with more classic monochrome colour combinations – both offer a great look for the summer.

Shirts

Short sleeve shirts may sound a bit formal, but bold patterns and colour schemes make a great choice this SS19 season, and again coordinate effortlessly with ripped jeans or denim shorts to give you a slightly smarter look that will see you through the day– and is ideal for an evening look as well.

Whatever the weather, looking and keeping cool this summer will make a real difference with these essential items.
