Soul Sundays at Madison, London

What could be better than a soulful chilled Sunday, listening to the acoustic sounds of soul music, enjoying the London city skyline views as the sun melts away in the distance and sipping on a glass of wine or a cocktail or two whilst tucking into a lavish three-course dinner.

Sounds like a #TeamCoco Sunday to us – and thankfully the restaurant and bar at Madison has made this all possible, our writer, Helena, went down to experience a Soulful Sunday.

Madison is set in the heart of London, on the top floor of the One New Change shopping centre. The intimate restaurant and bar boasts sweeping views over London’s skyline and surrounded by the most iconic landmarks such as St Paul’s Cathedral and the London Eye in the distance. It’s the perfect place for date night or a girly cocktail night, and now even for a chilled Sunday lunch.

The restaurant has really a cosy, romantic interior with a modern bar and seating, the bar spills out onto an outdoor terrace complete with heaters and fluffy blankets to keep you toasty. The Soul Sunday menu features three-courses priced at £38 per person, paired with half a bottle of house wine. There are a lot of tasty options on the menu, including a roast of beef, chicken or pork belly and sumptuous sides of roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and a giant crispy Yorkshire pudding.

The entire dining experience was accompanied by Kristin Duo’s soothing voice, she has worked with a diverse range of artists including Sting, Clean Bandit and Olly Murs. The music selection ranged from 80’s to 90’s R&B and was extremely fitting for the atmosphere at Madison. I went for the Jerusalem artichoke soup to start, the perfect winter warmer to rival these icy London temperatures as well as a wise choice to saving room for the main course. The corn-fed chicken roast portion was extremely filling, succulent and seasoned, with crisp and fluffy roast potatoes and tasty gravy flowing alongside. If you have managed to save room for dessert I’d recommend the chocolate and praline fondant – beautifully rich and chocolatey and so moreish, the perfect finish to a fabulous Sunday meal.

And with no rush to leave, you can end your soulful Sunday by lazing by the bar to try one of Madison’s famed cocktails. Pornstar Martini in hand watching the sunset feeling extremely satisfied and raring to go for the week ahead.

If you’re looking for a calming, food-filled Sunday with a special roast dinner #TeamCoco recommend the perfect Sunday spent at Madison, you might even find yourself so relaxed you’re looking forward to Monday morning!
