House of Coco are excited to reveal that Julia Roberts will become the face of the Italian fashion house Givenchy, starting with the Spring/Sumer ’15 campaigns. The Pretty Woman actress looks striking as she poses, powerfully barefaced, in a black androgynous suit for the first of Givenchy’s classic monochrome adverts. Other than a lengthy contract fronting Lancôme, Roberts’ is known for keeping her life private – steering away from the press and pulls of social networking sites. Ricardo Tisci spoke to Style.com about his choice of muse for the campaigns, following on from the footsteps of Marina Abramovic, musician Erykah Badu and French actress Isabelle Huppert, Tisci notes how Roberts’ is a ‘real star’.
“She doesn’t do fashion shoots, she doesn’t do covers, she doesn’t do all of that. But still, she’s one of the most well-known people in the world … Today, celebrity has become so much [about] how many followers you have, how big you are on Facebook. For me, she represents a pure talent and a pure beauty. So many celebrities are celebrities today not because of their talent. That’s fine, it’s the moment today. But she’s an iconic actress.”
