The love of design runs through our veins here at House of Coco and we love nothing more than a hard hitting collaboration. When we heard that British fashion designer Henry Holland had collaborated with UK design brand Habitat to launch his first interiors collection we were eager to see the result. We were not disappointed. Unveiled at Habitat’s new Tottenham Court Road flagship store in London, the capsule collection of limited edition designs features a series of prints taken from the SS16 House of Holland season translated across a range of textiles and upholstery.

With inspiration taken from Hunter S Thompson’s iconic novel Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, the new collection draws together a mix of trippy florals, animal prints and bright fluorescent colour harking back to the 1970’s. For the launch of the collection last month, Habitat’s Tottenham Court Road store was suitably turned into a louche Vegas casino with Henry Holland, Daisy Lowe and Miquita Oliver joining in the celebrations with a retro inspired menu of Singapore sling cocktails, cheese & pineapple on sticks and lemon meringue pies in tribute to Hunter’s novel.

For those of you that are not familiar with Henry Holland’s work, he is a bold fashion designer most famed for his graphic prints. After graduating from the London College of Printing with a BA Journalism, Henry Holland was catapulted into the fashion limelight in 2006 with his irreverent ‘fashion groupies’ slogan tees featuring catchphrases such as ‘uhu Gareth Pugh’ and ‘get your freak on Giles Deacon’. In February 2008, after 2 seasons showing with Fashion East, House of Holland held its first solo show on the London Fashion Week schedule to critical acclaim. Now in the brand’s 13th season, House of Holland is firmly established in the international fashion arena and in January 2012 was awarded a two-season fashion forward sponsorship. Henry designs with a London girl aesthetic in mind and is continually inspired by the variety of attitudes, cultures and mind-sets that exist throughout the UK capital. The House of Holland girl is cool, confident and savvy and wears labels without letting them wear her. House of Holland now boasts an impressive roster of international premium stockists including Browns focus, Colette, Harvey Nichols, Lane Crawford, Matches, Opening Ceremony, Emporium, Galleries Lafayette, Isetan, Net-a-Porter, Tsvetnoy, IT and Selfridges. With such a successful career so far, Henry Holland can add another notch to his belt when it comes to interiors.

“The collection for Habitat is a hallucinatory mix of 1970’s pattern and texture,” comments Holland. “Inspired by Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, we’ve incorporated a mix of trippy florals, animal prints and bright fluorescent colour onto a mix of materials for a collection that brings together the strengths of both brands. I’ve wanted to design an interiors collection for years and translating ideas for a new industry has been such a rewarding process, looking at new techniques and materials which we haven’t used before.”

“We’ve grounded the collection with our Paradise Leaf print on sofa and rug, a sophisticated motif that works in both a traditional and contemporary setting. Then to get our Hunter S.Thompson on, we’ve introduced a capsule of hedonistic cushions with contrasting prints on each side and finished with a reversible throw in hallucinatory Puffer fish print.”
