Girl Bosses Of Great Britain; Sugar Tits, ‘Feeding Up the Fashionable Crowd’

At House of Coco we love nothing more than the sight of empowered women doing their thing! this summer we’ve continued our quest to find the country’s coolest, smartest and most creative female-led businesses, putting the spotlight on London. We weren’t looking for a success story per se, we were on the hunt for passion, creativity, independence and entrepreneurial thought; women who could inspire our readers to keep hustling for their dream, no matter how often they feel that they want to down tools.

This led us to spectacular London-based female-led business; Sugar Tits, the most instagrammable treats company, who are taking over parties and events across London.

We caught up with the leading ladies of Sugar Tits to hear what it’s like to be the CEO of your own dream.

Sugar Tits

“We’re Sugar Tits, baking besties with a serious sweet tooth. We originally  trained as actresses but ditched our dreams of Hollywood stardom to become confectionary queens. With a shared sense of style, an insatiable greed and a devotion to all things Dolly Parton, we bring serious levels of sass to all things sweet.

With an emphasis on instagramability, our aim is to bring fashion and food together to create treats that are as on trend as they are tasty.

All our treats are made with love, girl power and inevitably a lot of glitter. Our aim is conquer the confectionary industry with our refreshingly relaxed attitude to refined sugar and bold approach to aesthetics so we can create food that’s a reflection of the best parts of the girl gang movement.”

What was the inspiration behind starting your business?

ST: We both originally trained as actresses and when we met on set we mainly bonded over our love of food. But we don’t pretend to be gourmets, we’re just really greedy. We wanted to show people that you don’t have to juice it for it to be on trend and being vegan and sugar free etc isn’t the only way for food to be fashionable. We also thought it was refreshing to see two girls who are clearly image conscious, into fashion but still frequently fall into food comas.

What do you most want people to get from your products?

ST: Our treats are all about the aesthetic. They’re not so much food as they are fashion. We want people to get the same buzz when they buy them as they do when they buy a hot new accessory or other trendy trinkets. It’s the kind of the thing you want to take a photo of and share it with your squad. And then you get to eat it!

What specific advice would you have for young women who would like to become entrepreneurs?

ST: You definitely need to be prepared to take the good with the bad. You’re going to be broke, tired and do a lot of crying at first. But when it all comes together and people start recognising you and your product it’s the biggest thrill. You have to be prepared to take responsibility for the f*ck ups though. If something goes wrong it’s all on you but equally you know you’ve earned every bit of praise you might receive. Networking is super important too. Make friends with the people who will support your brand and have a similar ethos, even if they are in a totally different field. You can all help each other and it’s an invaluable way to grow your business and contacts.

Tell us something fun/weird/interesting about your business journey so far

ST: When we re-branded and changed our name to Sugar Tits there was quite a lot of raised eyebrows – especially from the older generation. On the whole though, everyone was totally into it and nearly all the brands we work with loved it. Although we haven’t heard from Laura Ashley lately… so you win some, you lose some. However,  when we tried to register it with companies house they refused on the basis the name was derogatory. Which is political correctness gone crazy. The name’s about girl power and being a bit tongue in cheek. And that pretty much sums up our brand.
