British brand LATELITA London, headed by designers and partners Al and Lee, fuse their Western and Eastern heritage to create timeless statement pieces.
Born from their mutual love of jewellery, colour and everyday elegance, each piece is handcrafted using the finest skins, precious metals and natural stones. House of Coco went along to find out more…
When did you launch the brand and what was the reason behind it?
We launched the brand 18months ago after giving up our jobs in the rat race to pursue our love of jewellery.
Whats your background?
Our label is a fusion of east meets west with a London flare which sums us up as designers.
How many people are involved in the label and whats the process behind launching a new piece?
We are a small family here at the house of Latelita, consisting of us as designers and our team who make our visions into reality.
The label is named after the first person we designed jewellery for and we always think of her when creating a new piece. The Latelita lady wears the jewellery, not the jewellery her, and she is fun, vivacious and confident.
If you could start over with the business, would you do anything differently?
Nothing. All experiences are worthwhile experiences when it comes to design and business.
If we were to buy just ONE product from you for Christmas, which one would it be?
Kiwi and peridot stingray cuff, available exclusively at Merola, 195 Fulham Road.
What do you tend to do for Christmas?
Christmas is always about family, and both our mothers are happy to have jewellery designer sons, especially when it comes to dropping hints about presents!
Tell us one fact about you that people wouldn’t know?
We collect vintage jewellery and love finding interesting pieces in the most unlikely of places.
2015 is just around the corner, where do you plan on taking the brand?
We are a boutique jewellery label and wish to remain so. We love pushing the boundaries of design and strive to create timeless statement pieces that will be treasured for years to come.
To date, what has been the highlight since launching?
Seeing our designs on display at established jewellery boutiques and department stores such as House of Fraser
What inspires each collection?
Nature, a mutual love of colour and semi-precious natural stones picked up on our travels.
