JAGO WAS FOUNDED ON A BELIEF IN FREEDOM, COMPANIONSHIP, ADVENTURE AND LONGEVITY.

A Jacket for Life – wherever it takes you. Tailored form flattering designs, combining tough natural fabric and great functionality with contemporary values, JAGO fills the gap in the market that brings back vintage, ‘free spirited’ adventure, elegance and durability. A statement of lifestyle: JAGO products reflect an active, rugged, and exotic lifestyle for adventurous “individuals”. The item of choice whether for a traveller to the remote Tristan da Cunha or a visitor to one of the world’s great metropolises. A JAGO jacket is a comfortable, sturdy and distinct item of clothing that its owner will become increasingly attached to the more it is worn, shaped and faded by the life they have shared. Just as with a favourite pair of jeans, it softens, improves with age, and develops to reflect the adventures and character of its owner. A jacket to be worn in the city as an expression of your alter ego but equally, the functional capabilities of JAGO jackets allow you to ‘go anywhere’ – no matter how much you fall on rocky scree, how much it rains, snows and gusts, or however many years it takes, your JAGO jacket will take you the distance.

Here, we go behind the Jago Jackets brand to find out more about that story…

When did you launch the brand and what was the reason behind it?
JAGO launched in 2017 on the back of losing a jacket that belonged to my Dad. A jacket that had lasted 40 years, travelling the world journeying on the back of its 3 consecutive owners. By the time I adopted this ‘Go Anywhere’ jacket, it told the story of the epic adventures it had seen; it was faded by the elements, shaped by its owners and marked by history. Every scuff, mark and patch represented a chapter from its heroic travels yet the old friend had withstood the test of time despite the beatings it had taken along the way. And then I lost it. My overwhelming sense of loss and guilt drove me to revive and upgrade the jacket. Not only for the original owners, but also for others to enjoy the experience of a blank canvas evolving into their comfortable and sturdy travelling companion; over time telling its own story, as it fades and marks along the shared journey.

What’s your background?
I am an undergraduate studying for a degree in Biotechnology at the University of Edinburgh! However, as explained above I couldn’t help but feel obliged to found JAGO.

How many people are involved in the company and what are their roles?
Within JAGO it is just me but I have been very fortunate to consult with many generous people who are willing to offer up advice!

If you could start over with the business, would you do anything differently?
What is the hardest challenge you have faced since you started the company?

It took a long time and a lot of hard work to finally reach a point where we felt confident that we had a product that was versatile enough to call ‘A Jacket for Life’.

2018 is here, where do you plan on taking the brand?
We are looking to continue to grow in terms of sales predominately through the introduction of some new styles of jackets.

To date, what has been the highlight since launching?
Having Bear Grylls buy a jacket!

Which city do you feel most at home in, London, Paris or New York?
London

Three beauty products you can’t leave the house without?
Style means….?

If you had to, what piece of clothing from your wardrobe would you wear everyday?
