Here at House of Coco we love the Basque Country and we were hooked on the pinchos from our very first visit! We can’t hop on a flight every time we get a craving for this type of food but luckily we can head to Leeds city centre for our Basque dining fix in the form of Pintura.

Yorkshire foodies can take their passion for Basque cuisine to an exciting new level with the launch of Pintura Kitchen’s new immersive dining experience.

Experiencia Gastronomica has launched and it is an intimate and interactive wine and tapas event hosted by Pintura Kitchen’s executive chef, Greg Lewis. Taking place on the first floor around the Chef’s Counter, guests will embark on a gastronomic journey of Basque cuisine with a five course tasting menu and cookery masterclass rolled into one.

Each guest will immerse themselves in the preparation and cooking of each dish; learning the tricks, techniques and secrets of Basque cuisine, which is regarded as the finest in Europe with San Sebastian holding the most Michelin Stars per square meter in the world. Executive chef Greg, who has embarked on numerous research trips to the Basque Country, will teach guests how to make Pintura’s signature dishes, such as Tortilla Vasca, Bavette Galacia and Chorizo Con Sidra.

Guests will learn about the ingredients that are synonymous with Basque food, as well as the cooking techniques and overall ethos behind the cuisine. There will be no more than 10 guests per session, ensuring an engaging and in-depth masterclass.

The group will also indulge in a five course menu of their prepared dishes, each one expertly paired with stunning Spanish wines, specially selected by Pintura Kitchen’s CEO and resident wine expert, Ged Feltham.

Each guest will be gifted a recipe file containing the classic Basque dishes that they have learnt during the session, as well have exclusive access to future recipes so they can continue to hone their culinary skills and cook up a storm at home.

Tickets are priced £75 with gift vouchers available to purchase as Christmas presents for foodie friends and family.

Commenting on Experiencia Gastronomica, executive chef Greg Lewis, says:

“The Basque Country is the culinary epicentre of Europe and customers regularly ask for tips and tricks on cooking Spanish dishes at home. With Experiencia Gastronomica, we have created a tasting menu with a difference; allowing Yorkshire’s discerning diners to learn new culinary skills in a way that is both fun and in-depth.

Experiencia Gastronomica launches December 2nd at Pintura Kitchen and will take place weekly on Saturday afternoons at 12pm . Tickets are priced £75 and include: a five course meal of tapas paired with a full wine flight, a glass of cava upon arrival, an interactive cooking lesson with Pintura’s executive or head chef, recipes for each dish and information and contact details for the UK’s best Basque suppliers.
