#CocoKitchen : Best Terraces in the UK to Soak up the Sun this Summer

We’ve had a taste of what’s to come with summer this year and we like what we’ve seen. When we get a glimpse of sun here at House of Coco you can guarantee we will be sacking off work and heading to the nearest beer garden #sorrynotsorry. So, it makes sense that we have put together a round up of the best terraces to enjoy in London and in the UK to soak up the rays.

From 25 May to September 2017, Fat Buddha Yoga will be running morning yoga sessions from the stunning rooftop garden at Coq d’Argent with spectacular views over the city skyline. Founded by DJ and yoga trainer, Jessica Skye, Fat Buddha Yoga is a modern, accessible and fun take on traditional yoga where the venue and music both play an important role.  Guests can also enjoy breakfast on the terrace at Coq d’Argent, where the menu includesGreek yoghurt with honey, berry compote, fruit salad or muesli and Smoked salmon and spinach eggs Benedict. 

New Japanese rooftop restaurant and bar, Issho, in Leeds

Located in the high-end shopping destination of Victoria Gate in Leeds, this new restaurant from D&D London and executive chef Ben Orpwood, has its very own Japanese-inspired bar, Kori, serving a range of sake and unique cocktails.  The restaurant also boasts an intimate 40-cover rooftop terrace with comfortable lounge sofas for a calm, relaxing ambience and stunning views over the city.

Venetian terrace at Veneta

The recently launched Veneta restaurant – the latest addition from Salt Yard Group – is the perfect place to watch the world go by in the pedestrianised redevelopment of St James’s Market.  As the name suggests, the restaurant menu is inspired by the magical city of Venice with pasta, cheese and meat small plates, alongside fresh seafood and a raw bar situated within the main dining room.  Guests can enjoy an extensive list of cocktails celebrating the restaurant’s unique selection of hand-picked vermouths, as well as Italian classics with a twist such as Pine Negroni; Rose & Pink Peppercorn Spritz and Seasonal Bellini.

A secluded suntrap at The Stafford London

The Stafford London boasts a beautiful cobbled courtyard, providing guests with a private al fresco oasis in the heart of St James’s. Adjoining the courtyard, the hotel’s American Bar serves a wonderful array of summer cocktails, including the Apricot Teacup (Hendrick’s Gin infused with white apricot tea, crème de peche, smoked tea liquor and peach bitters in an ornate teacup), and the Garden Margarita (2014 Ocho organic tequila, La Vida mezcal, agave nectar, cucumber, mint, lime and celery bitters). Furthermore, guests are able to enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner and light bites on the terrace, with the American Bar serving everything from Eggs Benedict and Pain au chocolat in the mornings, to sandwiches, salads, grill dishes and snacks throughout the day.

Tapas on the Terrace at Dehesa

Located on Ganton Street in Central London, tapas favourite Dehesa – part of the Salt Yard Group – boasts one of the largest terraces in Soho.  Serving up modern Spanish and Italian small plates from a daily changing menu, an al fresco barbecue sits pride of place serving freshly cooked dishes such as Chargrilled chorizo with roasted peppers, pickled white onion and chickpeas as well as highlights from the a la carte menu, including the finest Jamón Ibérico carved to order and Courgette flowers stuffed with goats’ cheese and drizzled with honey, all accompanied by a thoughtfully curated wine list.  Depending on the weather, the barbecue will be fired up from Thursday until Sunday on a weekly basis.

Sartoria’s Saville Row terrace

Francesco Mazzei’s restaurant on Saville row has a beautiful terrace that is open all year round for diners to relax and watch the world go by. From an al fresco breakfast in the sunshine to a stylish evening filled with cicchetti and cocktails, designed by renowned mixologist Simone Caporale, Sartoria is the perfect spot to sit outside in Mayfair.

Relax in Southern Italian style at Radici

The recently opened Islington trattoria from Francesco Mazzei has an al fresco terrace on Almeida Street that is the perfect place to enjoy a classic Pizza Calabrese from their wood-fired oven and a refreshing Spritz. Radici has a rustic style inspired by the Calabrian and southern Italian cuisine of Francesco’s heritage, all served in a relaxed environment alongside a carefully selected list of southern Italian wines.

Angler launches summer terrace

One of the City’s true hidden gems, the west-facing terrace at Michelin-starred Angler is perfect for soaking up the afternoon sun. Guests will also be able to enjoy chef Gary Foulkes’s new summer menu, which includes dishes such as Avocado gazpacho with tuna and shiso taco, Elderflower and gooseberry tart,and Veal tartare with buratta and BBQ’d peach. A retractable roof and heaters will ensure that guests stay warm and dry whatever the weather

Paris in Bloom at Orrery

Orrery’s terrace will be awash with flowers for its Paris in Bloom themed rooftop. Designed by florist-to-the-stars McQueens, the terrace will open on 25thMay and see floral dishes such as Marinated goat’s cheese salad with baby artichokes, beetroot, fennel and orange, as well as floral cocktails being served including Berry Delight and Passion Fizz.

Citrus delights at Cantina del Ponte

Ideally positioned right next to the Thames at Butlers Wharf on the South Bank, this thoroughbred Italian’s terrace offers beautiful views of Tower Bridge. This summer, the restaurant has once again teamed up with Soho-based limoncello crafters Pococello for its terrace, offering a cocktail menu and dining experience inspired by one of Amalfi Town’s finest eating and drinking establishments, Lo Smeraldino.

St Germain chic at Le Pont de la Tour

Butlers Wharf’s luxe French is a safe bet for summery meals thanks to its sprawling terrace, complete with eye-popping views of Tower Bridge. As part of D&D London’s celebration of all things summer, Blossom City, the restaurant has created the St. Germain Jardin, a jazz-fuelled celebration of France’s artisanal elderflower liqueur. In partnership with gynaecological cancer charity Lady Garden, the St. Germain Jardin offers a range of limited-edition cocktails and a programme of jazz afternoons and cocktail masterclasses.

Belsazar Botanical Garden at Old Bengal Bar

As part of the D&D London group-wide #BlossomCity campaign this summer, Old Bengal Bar is offering a new menu of exclusive cocktails in partnership with premium vermouth brand, Belsazar. Set against the backdrop of a lush botanical garden within the oldest existing warehouse in the City, the unique blends will be available for guests to enjoy until 30th September 2017.
