‘The English Room, established by the founder of Eximious, is a quintessentially British company that continues the legacy of supplying the highest quality monogrammed products, all made within our shores.

#TeamCoco went along to chat to the founders and here’s what they had to say…

When did you launch the brand and what was the reason behind it? – The English Room was originally established by the founder of a well-loved British brand, Eximious, a company that I had always admired. When I was presented with the idea of buying The English Room from the founder of Eximious, it was a no-brainer

What’s your background? I have been in the art-world for over 25 years, and have run my other company Fine Art Commissions for 20 years, which focuses on bespoke portrait commissions – another passion of mine.

How many people are involved in the company and what are their roles? We are a small team of four and we all get involved in every aspect right down to the wrapping of the Christmas orders to learning how to oil our new embossing machine!

What is the hardest challenge you have faced since you started the company? We are often asked to bring out more products in more colours, shapes and sizes. The hardest thing is saying no and focusing on what we are good at, when it seems so tempting to keep branching out. It is all about keeping true to the brand at the end of the day and diversifying when the product fits.

Tell us one fact about you that people wouldn’t know? I have a Japanese Garden in Scotland, the care of which has been entrusted to me and will open to the public in 2018.

To date, what has been the highlight since launching? Being featured in Vogue is definitely up there along with the clients that make the effort to get in touch to say how pleased they are with their items; it makes it all worth it.

Which city do you feel most at home in, London, Paris or New York? London, definitely. There is nothing better than taking my dog, Lola, on a walk through Green Park on my way to work in the morning.

Three beauty products you can’t leave the house without? Jo Malone scent, dog mints for Lola and hand cream

Statement shoe or statement bag? I can’t leave home without my olive green Executive Bag from The English Room (shamless plug!) which keeps my laptop – and life – in it

Guilty pleasure? Pret’s chocolate croissant!
