Just a one hour and thirty minute train journey away from Paddington is the lovely Hotel du Vin Cheltenham; a glorious home-from-home in the beautiful regency era town of Cheltenham.

Pat of the Hotel du Vin Group and Fraser’s Hospitality, Hotel du Vin Cheltenham occupies a beautiful building in Cheltenham’s chic Montpellier district. Picture handsome Regency-era mansions, and tree-lined crescents that look like they could’ve been lifted off the set of Bridgerton.

There are 49 individually designed bedrooms and suites, which have undergone a recent (and extensive) refurb to capture the rustic allure of country living, while still celebrating the English Heritage style of the Hotel du Vin collection.

This fabulously dog-friendly hotel is centred around a sprawling bar and restaurant and of course – an impressive wine cellar. (After all – a Hotel du Vin would not be complete without a healthy array of vintages that would impress even the most discerning wine connoisseur).

We stayed in the sprawling De Trafford Suite, which is as impressive as it sounds. Occupying the square footage of what seems like an entire London terraced house; the suite features vibrant decoupage wallcoverings with English antique prints that are equal parts eclectic, joyful and timeless.

A rich tapestry inspired by Mulberry Home’s flying ducks’ prints, inspire colour scheme of the room, which blends duck egg blue with sage green and bright orange accents. There is of course, a large king sized bed complete with headboard by Colefax and Fowler, a meticulously preserved wooden mantlepiece; and a newly refurbished bathroom with tiles form Solus ceramics.

There are plenty of creature comforts too. Handsprung mattresses, fine Egyptian linens, plasma TVs and a handsome rolltop bath, which is a thing of beauty and the perfect spot to relax after a day of exploring.

There is also a completely separate seating area; perfect for getting lost in a good book or film. For Charlie, we were greeted with a comfy dog bed, dog bowls and doggy care package complete with snacks and tennis ball (his favourite). So – he truly did feel like four-legged VIP from the moment we check in.

Not every space is dog friendly though, which is worth noting. But even if the main Bistro du Vin restaurant isn’t dog friendly per se, pet travellers can enjoy a delicious meal at Hotel du Vin Cheltenham upstairs in one of two lounge areas or at the bar.

Guests who are staying in one of Hotel du Vin’s inclusive packages can enjoy three course meals as part of their stay. Certain dishes though like the steaks, scallops and beef bourguignonne come with added supplements, but with most dishes priced below £20 – the entire menu Bistro du Vin’s menu is fabulously affordable.

Beyond the Hotel du Vin, Cheltenham has plenty to explore for pet friendly travellers. There are plenty of charming cafes and restaurants, and glorious parks that are within walking distance from the hotel – perfect for a day out in the sun with your pup. A lot of the cute boutiques, complete with stylish knick knacks, are pet friendly too. There are also a few noteworthy National Heritage Houses and the always enjoyable Cotswolds Wildlife Park which are within a short drive away.

Overall, if you’re looking for an idyllic slow weekend getaway with your four-legged pooch, look no further than the Hotel du Vin. Excellent service, luxurious rooms and a delectable menu of food and wine, Hotel du Vin is a veritable home away from home in the heart of Cheltenham and we shall surely be returning.

A 1-night stay at Hotel du Vin Cheltenham costs from £110 in March. Book online at https://www.hotelduvin.com/locations/cheltenham/

Bernedoodles are a mix of poodles and Bernese mountain dogs. The breed became popular in 2003 when breeders across the United States created more reliable crossbreeds. Today, bernedoodles are available as a standard breed or a miniature breed. The standard breed is larger than the miniature breed, whereas the mini breed is closer in size to small dogs. Still, because the Bernese mountain dog is large, even the small breed can result in a dog that’s 20-40 pounds.

If you’re curious about this breed, you’re in the right place. Read on to learn about what a bernedoodle is mixed with, and then check out this complete guide to find out everything you need to know about caring for a Bernedoodle.

What Is a Bernedoodle?

A bernedoodle is a cross between a poodle and a Bernese mountain dog. Breeding these dogs results in a dog that shares traits with a poodle and a Bernese mountain dog. These dogs can be on the larger size but there is also a mini breed that’s smaller than the standard bernedoodle. When it comes to their purpose, bernedoodles are sought after because they don’t shed a lot. It turns out that when you combine the poodle with the Bernese mountain dog, you get a dog that barely sheds its coat.

What Is a Bernedoodle Mixed With?

While we covered what a bernedoodle is, we can still get more specific. This is because bernedoodles can be mixed with several types of poodles. For example, the standard breed is mixed with the standard poodle, but this isn’t true for the other versions of the breed. For example, the mini bernedoodle is a mix between the miniature poodle and the Bernese mountain dog.

Additionally, there is a toy version of the Bernese mountain dog. This breed is a cross between the toy poodle and the Bernese mountain dog. Therefore, there are a handful of ways that this can go.

What Size Is a Bernedoodle?

The bernedoodle comes in two sizes. There is a standard breed that can weigh 50-90 pounds and a miniature breed that weighs 25-50. That said, some bernedoodles are closer to the size of toy breed dogs. In these cases, you might find a bernedoodle mixed with a toy poodle that only weighs 10-15 pounds. Still, size aside, many of the poodle and Bernese mountain dog traits are present in these dogs at any size.

What Is a Bernedoodle’s Temperament?

The bernedoodle is a temperate dog. It’s a cross between the poodle and Bernese mountain dog, which are two intelligent and responsive breeds. This makes them easy to train and you shouldn’t have any issues teaching them commands. In fact, these dogs are calm and smart enough to work as service dogs, therapy dogs, and work dogs. Their temperament is perfect for being around children and small animals as well. While they have a slight prey drive, socialization at a young age can prevent any problems from happening.

Are Bernedoodles Energetic?

Yes, bernedoodles are energetic. Poodles and Bernese mountain dogs are known for their energy, so it’s no surprise that they need space to play and roam around. You should take them on frequent walks and ensure that they get at least one hour of exercise per day. Otherwise, you can end up with a rowdy dog that doesn’t have a way to expend their energy.

Are Bernedoodles Easy to Train?

Yes, bernedoodles are easy to train. It’s easy for them to learn commands, and if you socialize with them from a young age, they will get along with other dogs and animals. Make sure you take the time needed to train them, and we recommend starting at a young age. It also helps to get a professional if you’re having trouble training your bernedoodle.

Adopt a Bernedoodle Today

Bernedoodles are some of the best dogs you can adopt. The combination of a poodle and a Bernese mountain dog creates a responsive dog that knows how to learn new commands, please their owner, and much more. In fact, they’re also a good choice for service dog work. That said, make sure you adopt a bernedoodle from a reliable source and make sure you choose the appropriate size. There is a lot of variation between standard bernedoodles and toy bernedoodles.

When it comes to who a bernedoodle is good for, the answer is anyone with enough space. Whether you’re a first-time dog owner or have a family with children, bernedoodles can adapt and become a part of your family.

Too many times in the past have you found yourself worrying about your puppy being alone in the living room without a way to mention it wants to go outdoors? That is what the new technology of the dog doorbell training device has come to offer to dog owners.

No dog type cannot be influenced and benefit from this simple device that is conveniently adjusted on your door. Let’s discuss more about that to give you the true essence of dog training and how you could be accountable for your puppies, who will be happy ever after living with you in the same place.

Introduction to Innovative Dog Doorbell Training

Just forget about the scratched doors and the damage created by puppies who desperately want to go outside for a walk -or even worse- to pee. With the right dog doorbell training device, you can be sure to stick it safely on your front door without the risk of damaging its sensitive wooden parts. The device has some replaceable batteries that take too long to fade away. Every time your dog needs to get out of the home, it can press on the doorbell, and you will surely know about it. The doorbell has some connection with your Wi-Fi to ensure that you will get a notification on your smartphone each time your puppy steps on the doorbell. Nothing could be simpler than that!

Step-by-Step Guide to Training Your Dog with the Doorbell Device

There are some easy steps to follow to start training your dog with the doorbell device. First, you need to isolate your home from any other sound or disturbance. Then, you need to get your dog close to the door and start pressing the doorbell using its legs. After the doorbell rings, you should give your puppies a treat. That is the perfect way to let them know that you are mindful of their needs, and every time they want to visit the garden, they should step on the doorbell to allow them to hear from themselves. The doorbell is extremely soft to the touch so that puppies can even press it successfully and let you know they are in a hurry to get out.

Enhancing Home Security and Convenience with a Dog Doorbell

Another useful aspect that you need to know when you install a dog doorbell is the convenience it offers you with enhanced home security. Your dogs can act as lifeguards for your home, and when they listen to an uninvited guest coming, they can be trained to step on the doorbell. That can set a silent alarm for you to check your cameras and even call security patrol. At the same time, your dog would be protected inside your premises, and you will have won a precious additional measure of security and safety for your home!

Success Stories: Real-Life Benefits of Dog Doorbell Training

It would be best not to listen to our theories. Reading reviews about people who have already used and installed the dog doorbell training system will surely persuade you to buy yours right away online. The truth is that most dog owners are pleased to have installed such a device at home. The reviews are extremely positive, and all users point out the ease of the doorbell ringing and the short time it took them to train their dogs to press the button. It’s an easy process that enhances your communication with your dog even when you have a big home and you cannot be in direct touch all the time with your beloved pets.

Maintaining Your Dog Doorbell Device for Long-Term Use

There is no need for specific maintenance for your dog’s doorbell training device. Once you unbox the doorbell, you simply need to install it on your door, and you are practically ready to connect it to the wireless network of your home. Then, you only need to replace each battery every year when they are in a low level of energy, and that will give you enough time to consider what you will do next with your dog.

Conclusion

So, if you have a beautiful house that you want to keep in good condition, it’s better to install a dog doorbell training system right away. It’s the only thing that will make your door live a lot longer and ensure that you will know and identify the needs of your dog anytime and even from a long distance.

Dog doorbell training systems are small and discrete, allowing you only to know what they are since visitors cannot easily see them, especially when you place them on the lower part of your front door. Finally, here’s a device that will give you freedom and communication with your pets all day long!

On a perfect late summer afternoon, TeamCocopup Charlie made his way to The Fugitive Motel. An achingly cool all day bar and restaurant that oozes mid-century modern personality without any fuss.

Located right by the arches on Bethnal Green, The Fugitive Motel is a great place to enjoy everything from artisanal coffee to vegan pizzas and craft tipples with your favourite furry friends.

Fugitive Motel takes inspiration from the classic American motels of the late 1950s and 60s and features plenty of quirky industrial elements mixed in with colourful retro design details. The bar is a mad men style wood and granite bar offering an impressive variety of craft beers from local and international producers. The booths — with some welcome kitsch details — are exceptionally charming. You almost feel like you are transported to an easy diner in palm springs.

The menu is as easy as the interiors and has plenty of sharing options, but the star of the show has to be the pizza. We had the Ole Faithful which is a delicious blend of prosciutto, rocket, olives, and mozzarella. The Smokey One is a great option for meat lovers, and offers spicy nduja sausages, sweet pepper, chorizo, red onion, smoked mozzarella and pesto. The ice cream is worth shouting about too. Don’t leave Fugitive Motel without a scoop (or three) of the Ricotta ice cream, it’s the perfect dessert to indulge in this season.

This versatile all day spot is great for prolonged brunches, co-working, early dinners, late night drinks, shuffleboard competitions, and of course — doggy dates. Fugitive Motelis extremely dog-friendly, with pups even allowed on the booths. During our visit, we had at least two other doggy neighbours who were definitely enjoying their stay. Because no matter what you’re in the mood for, there’s a vacancy for everyone at The Fugitive Motel – especially for four legged guests.

After months of searching, TeamCocopup Charlie and I have finally found London’s best dog-friendly hotel, and it’s the perfect place for a luxury doggy staycation.

Located in a quiet tree-lined street in Knightsbridge, just a quick walk away from the busy shoppers at Harrods’ and the lush greenery of Hyde Park, The Egerton House Hotel is classic luxury at its finest. The hotel was originally built in 1843 and overlooking perfectly manicured private gardens; a luxurious sanctuary in the heart of vibrant Knightsbridge. The Egerton House Hotel has all the signatures of a Red Carnation Hotel; from its beautiful and timeless interiors, to its warm and truly impeccable staff, and everything else in between.

The exceptional service at The Egerton House is felt from the moment you step foot in the door; and the staff pull out all the stops when rolling out the red carpet for your four legged friend. Every room at the Egerton House is pet-friendly, which is hardly the case with other London hotels. We checked into our beautiful studio suite. ‘Studio’ is an understatement, because these rooms are as spacious ad they are indulgent. A muted colour palette is contrasted with a stunning vaulted ceiling,a cosy sitting area, a king sized bed with 200 thread count Belgian linen, and two glasses of bubbles patiently waiting our arrival.

Don’t fret – TeamCocopup Charlie also got the works, with his own luxury dog bed, two bowls full of treats, doggy matts, towels, and his choice of breakfast, dinner, and afternoon tea – with his very own doggy menu. The doggy afternoon tea is held in The Egerton House’s beautiful Ivory hued Drawing Room and is definitely worth mentioning. The hotels afternoon tea celebrates the great British tradition with panache. From traditional loose leaf teas, to minimal asian flavours, and even some show-stopping herbal infusions; the Egerton House Hotel has something for even the most discerning tea connoisseur. While I enjoyed a glass of champagne with my afternoon tea, Charlie enjoyed a three course doggy menu of his own — also served in doggie-themed three-tiered tea stand. This very special doggy menu comprises of home made chicken and beef meatloaf, freshly baked dog biscuits, and some pure fruit doggie ice cream, not to mention some pup-friendly PAW-secco too — now that’s VIP (Very important Pet) treatment.

As House of Coco’s official doggie journalist, Team Coco pup Charlie has explored plenty of dog-friendly places in London, but nowhere reaches the same level of puppy-pampering as the Egerton House Hotel. The Egerton House Hotel exudes all of the essential charms of a luxury British hotel, balanced with the warm familiarity of a family run establishment.

With the sun shining, and spring flowers blooming – London’s parks will soon be populated with sun-seeking picnic enthusiasts. If you’re in a sunny mood and already whipping out the afternoon prosecco; then don’t keep the fun to yourself and treat your fur-babies to some ‘dogtails’ too!

Enter Smith & Whistle. Located at the Sheraton Grand, and ideally positioned between Hyde Park Corner and Green Park, Smith & Whistle is the ideal spot for masterful martinis – both for humans and pooches. Not only do they have a mean cocktail list for humans looking to indulge in some tipple, they also have a permanent ‘dogtail’ menu for man’s best friend too.

Designed by David Jackson, Smith & Whistle’s dogstail menu is made of pet-friendly ingredients that will certainly get some tails wagging. TeamCocopup Charlie tried the ‘Hound’s Hops’ which is a special brew of dog beer with fresh mint. Afterwards, we went for the super healthy ‘Poochie Colada’, which is an organic green smoothie made of coconut water, kale, and broccoli – which keeps coats shiny and pups happy. Oh and did we mention that the Poochie Colada is made fresh by Smith & Whistle’s lovely bartender Alessio?

While Charlie was enjoying his dogtails, I was enjoying some masterfully mixed cocktails of my own. I recommend starting off with ‘The Pink Panther’; a delicate gin and Goji berry mixture, balanced with egg white and sparkling rosé — it is THE perfect aperitif. Afterwards, enjoy Smith & Whistle’s hearty lunch menu filled with several British favourites. We had the pork belly and the steak sandwich — both absolutely scrumptious — and washed it all down with a dessert (cocktail). The‘Catch me if you can’is a sinfully sweet mixture of Havana Club, dark chocolate, Luxardo bitter, lime, and gingerbread, made by the lovely Sergio. There are very few hotels in London that are as classically stunning as The Lanesborough. Last weekend, TeamCocopup Charlie made his way to the Lanesborough, for a doggy afternoon tea at one of London’s most prestigious addresses.

As a member of the esteemed Oetker Collection, The Lanesborough Hotel is the absolute embodiment of London luxury. Cross the street and you’re immediately within the green expanses of Hyde Park. A quick hop skip and jump away and you’ll be in Knightsbridge, the world’s most exclusive shopping district. Perusing the carefully curated shop windows at Harrods, and Harvey Nichols. Charlie and I learned that a quick game of fetch in Hyde Park is the best way to calm the doggy nerves before afternoon tea at The Lanesborough.

Designed by Alberto Pinto, this grand luxury mansion features 93 beautiful luxury suites and bedrooms. After being greeted by the hotel’s chivalrous doormen, we were led to the Lanesborough’s beautiful Withdrawing Room – where we would settle in for our afternoon tea. Sumptuously decorated with gold details, luxurious velvet trim, hand-painted trompe l’oeil marbling and shimmering chandeliers; The Withdrawing Rooms looks exactly like how you’d imagine the Queen’s Royal drawing room to be –and here, both mums and pups get the royal treatment. We sat down in a prime spot right beside the fireplace, and Charlie was given to his own little doggie bed too.

Afternoon Tea is such a quintessentially British pastime, and it doesn’t get more British than at the Lanesborough. Every afternoon tea begins with the perfect brew, and The Lanesborough has one of the widest tea selections in London. With over 40 choices of tea to choose from, The Lanesborough’s afternoon tea menu is as exhaustive as it is indulgent and includes black, green, and aromatic herbal infusions. Our lovely waiter Luca took us through their expansive menu, and soon our stunning three tiered afternoon tea stand arrives. A mix of perfect cut finger sandwiches, wonderfully rich clotted cream, fresh fruit preserves, and freshly baked scones, and scattering of delightfully flavoured pastries and cakes. Our instant favourite were the incredibly light blackberry cheesecakes which sat on the top tier of our cake stand. Kudos to head pastry chef Fabio Bardi, because not a single pastry was too sweet or soggy, with even the most subtle of flavours brought to life. Charlie got some treats of his own, care of Bob and Lush at The Lanesborough. Bob & Lush is completely natural and is made of 100% freshly prepared meat, and are basicallyirresistible for any hungry pup. These treats are free from any artificial preservatives or colorants which means they are perfect for any sensitive puppy tummies. Safe to say — it was almost impossible to keep Charlie away.

Throughout the years, the Lanesborough has gained the reputation of being one of the best luxury afternoon teas in London – and for good reason! Incredible service, sumptuous surroundings, and an utterly delicious afternoon tea mean that the Lanesborough is really where the magic happens. The Lanesborough is a definite must-visit for tea and cake loving mums and pups the world over, especially for those looking for a very special way to spend a doggy afternoon.

Since we’re all about change in 2020, this year we skipped the traditional Valentine’s Day date and instead went on a romantic rendezvous with our four-legged best friend.

So, with PAWsecco in tow, we took our resident doggy journalist, Charlie TeamCocopup, to a Doggy Valentine’s date to Pastaio London, one of the most delicious pasta places in town.

Located right by buzzy, bustling Carnaby Street Pastaio London is as bright and colourful inside, as its cool Covent Garden locale. Once inside, you are immediately greeted by the aroma of freshly made pasta – and the burst of bold colour of the restaurant’s Rob Lowe designed feature wall where TeamCocopup and I found a cosy corner table for our doggy date.

There’s plenty of authentic Italian fare to choose from, and it’s also worth talking about how Pastaio London has an entire vegan/gluten-free green menu for those looking to extend their Veganuary to the rest of the year. The vegan menu offers healthy starters like the Sardinian crispbread, and the Taggiasca olive and orange salad; to gluten-free pastas such as the smoked chili and black olives spaghetti and the Ragu Bolognese with porcini mushrooms.

All the food is made on-site in Pastaio London’s kitchen and you can really tell the difference. We started with the red cabbage, squash, and hazelnut starter, followed by the Wild mushroom, garlic, lemon and parsley reginette. Both paired with some truly zesty Prosecco Slushies. The piece de resistance, however, has to be the ‘Lady & the Tramp ‘style Spaghetti & Meatballs sharing plate. The dish is for two to share, and while, you can share your bowl with your doggy-date we highly recommend getting your pup his/her own bowl instead.

With a generous serving, the Spaghetti and Meatballs is everything you’d expect from a perfect bowl a pasta, albeit given that ‘al dente’ twist that Pastaio London has perfected. TeamCocopup Charlie gobbled his portion up in due time, and of course, posed for his ‘Lady & the Tramp’ moment too. The staff were nothing short of superb and gave our resident doggy-journalist plenty of fuss We’re definitely giving Pastaio London five stars/paws and will soon be coming back for a second (or third) serving.

The Spaghetti & Meatballs Sharing Plate will be available in Pastaio London until 24 February

This week’s dog-friendly adventure takes us to Knightsbridge, for a doggy afternoon tea at the Egerton House Hotel. Just a stone’s throw away from the iconic facade of Harrods, and a quick walk from the V&A and the Natural History Museum, the Egerton House Hotel is the best spot to spend a lavish afternoon in town for both mums and pooches.

As House of Coco’s official doggie journalist, Team Coco pup Charlie has explored plenty of dog-friendly places in London, but nowhere reaches the same level of puppy-pampering as The Egerton House Hotel. Part of the impeccable Red Carnation Hotel Group, the Egerton House Hotel exudes all of the essential charms of a luxury British hotel, balanced with the warm familiarity of a family run establishment. Before Charlie could do the proverbial shake, and excited tail-wagging, Andiswa, the Egerton House’s operations manager was already greeting us with a warm smile and some necessary fuss. She then led us to their beautiful Ivory hued Drawing Room, and to a table right by their exquisite bay window. While London winter did its worst outside, inside we were getting warm and cosy as Charlie settled into his perfect little doggie blanket and from the Egerton House Hotel.

Before digging into the perfectly baked scones, we started with a brief history of afternoon tea, and learned about how it is inextricably linked to British life. From traditional loose leaf teas, to minimal asian flavours, and even some show-stopping herbal infusions; the Egerton House Hotel has something for even the most discerning tea connoisseur. No afternoon tea would be complete without a selection of delectable sandwiches and pastries, and the Egerton House Hotel’s menu certainly doesn’t disappoint. The delectable sandwiches included organic smoked salmon on freshly baked Cape seed loaf (my personal favourite), roast ham and English mustard, and coronation chicken on granary bread among other British classics. On the sweeter end of the spectrum, the homemade cakes included a perfectly balanced carrot cupcake, lemon and poppyseed layered cake, coffee and walnut gateaux, and some lovely plain and fruit scones too. And while I enjoyed a glass of champagne with my afternoon tea, Charlie enjoyed a three course doggy menu of his own — also served in doggie-themed three-tiered tea stand.

This very special doggy menu comprises of homemade chicken and beef meatloaf, freshly baked dog biscuits, and some pure fruit doggie ice cream, not to mention some pup-friendly PAW-secco too — now that’s VIP (Very important Pet) treatment. Beyond the fresh food and beautiful environment, what makes Egerton House Hotel special is the absolutely faultless service. Because here, they welcome every guest like a VIP (even the four-legged ones)

The Egerton House Hotel’s Doggy Afternoon Tea surely gets five paws from Charlie, and we shall definitely be returning. If not for more cakes, then definitely for a luxury puppy staycation. You can rest assured that your pet will be treated like a king, from top to tail.

The Doggy Afternoon tea at The Egerton House Hotel is £45 per person and £25 per pooch. Afternoon Tea is served daily from 12pm to 6pm. The Egerton House Hotel also offers Vegetarian and Vegan options. For more information visit www.egertonhousehotel.com
