Are you someone who is hard on her nails, constantly keeps nails polished or someone who forgets that these even exist while going about our daily lives? For all types, it is very important to know that nails are made of the same protein ‘keratin’ as hair, and when we are so gentle and compassionate with our hair then why not our nails!

Having healthy and well maintained nails give you that elegant look and makes you come across as someone who is well kempt. And let’s agree, all of us women secretly wish to have gorgeous nails that are well groomed and are beautiful. So here are a few tips to achieve healthy nails :

Trim your nails regularly

Clipping your nails is equally important as is trimming your hair. Nail growth is hindered if you do not trim your nails regularly. If you are someone who likes to keep long nails, it is important for the health of your nails that you file them regularly so that not only are they in shape but also stay clean.

Some may even experience breakage and snags which is why it is wiser to maintain a length that is suitable to you.

Keep your hands moisturised

Do you forget to apply moisturiser on your hands and body after a bath or face wash? The answer, in most cases would be a ’No’, then why forget to moisturise your hands after every wash!

It is smart to keep a travel size hand lotion in your handbag and on your work desk and whenever you wash your hands, apply lotion on them. Do not forget to give special attention to nails and cuticles.

Do not pick at your cuticles

We understand that it is very difficult to resist the urge of picking at your cuticles but cuticles have a very important purpose to serve – they seal the base of your nail. When you pick at them too much, it exposes your nails to bacteria and thus infection.

If it gets too much and you really can’t resist the urge, you can remove cuticles once a week with a wooden cuticle remover and apply lotion on your cuticle afterwards.

Eat a healthy diet

Not many fashion tips for women would include this, but a healthy diet is very important for healthy nails. Some of us have experienced white spots on the nails or easy breakage of nails which may be due to the deficiency of minerals in your body making your nails discoloured or weak.

A diet that is good for the nails would ideally include a lot of proteins and vitamins that give you the required nutrition for your nails.

Give your nails a base coat

Many of us are either too lazy or running out of time to give our nails a base coat before applying polish. This is something that should not be compromised with. Giving a base coat prevents your nails from turning yellow or staining. It also makes your polish last longer. A useful tip no?

Use protection while doing chores

Gardening, washing dishes or clothes can expose your hands to harsh chemicals and leave your hands dry. Too much hot or soapy water can weaken your cuticles and nails. It is advisable to wear plastic, rubber or vinyl gloves while doing these chores so that not only your nails are protected but also the loads of care you gave to your hands is not washed off.

Give your nails a break

Women just love to paint their nails and switch from one shade to another, but did you know that it is important to give your nails a break?

Constantly applying paint on your nails can weaken them, make them yellow, and even cause them to break. Giving them a break would mean giving your nails some time to rest and repair. Keep your nails free during times when you do not plan to go out and leave polishing for partying.

Do not overlook the importance of taking care of your nails as these are also one of the body parts that define your looks. Armed with these tips, you will now be able to take better care of your nails.

There’s much more to a smile than simply showing your pearly whites – a nice smile can not only affect how you feel but also how others react to you. This means that it can affect all aspects of your lifestyle, from your job to your relationships. Plus, it only takes a moment to smile, but it can make somebody’s day, including yours too. In short, it can encourage positive thinking, and it can boost your confidence as well. If you’d like to improve your smile even more then you should consult a local orthodontist, who can answer any questions you may have, helping to get the smile you need. If you need an extra reason to smile today, here are a few you should think about.

Smiling can improve your dating chances

If you happen to be single or dating, you probably agree that your date’s physical appearance does matter to some extent. Of course, personality is still more important, and there are many other details that should come before looks. But in the end, you still want to be with somebody you’re attracted to physically. Plus, smile, posture, and eyes are very often the first things you will notice on a person, so one’s appearance plays an important role in making the right first impression. On the other hand, one’s unpleasant physical detail, like bad teeth, can also distract you from their sense of humor or kind nature. If you are looking to enhance your smile, such as fixing your bad teeth, be sure to drop by dental clinics like https://smilesbd.com/for treatment. All in all, a nice smile can improve your dating chances, and you’re bound to feel much more comfortable with your date if you know that you have it.

Smiling can make you more likable

When having a conversation with somebody, whether it is your business colleague, friend, or somebody you’ve just met, smiling plays an important role in the conversation. It makes you appear more interested in socializing, and it makes you seem friendlier as well. It also shows the person you’re talking to that you like them, understand them, and actually enjoy chatting with them. In other words, smiling makes you look like somebody they might like spending time with, as everybody likes being around positive people. If you feel you have low confidence or self-esteem in regards to your smile, you can always search online for a local Dentist Hamilton, or wherever you live, to help correct any dental issues and bring improvements to your conversations.

Smiling can improve your career opportunities

Succeeding in any business field often depends on how well you can communicate with your employees, colleagues, potential partners, clients, etc. You need to be able to impress people, and to do that, you need to have a nice smile, among other things. You need to actually look confident, and confident people are not afraid of smiling. Australians, for example, are aware of this, which is why they would often consult a professional orthodontist in Wollongong regarding their oral health. After all, sometimes you need a bit of professional help in order to have the kind of smile that would leave a great impression every time you show it. Finally, research has also shown that smiling at your colleagues can increase productivity in the office, so there’s one more reason to smile at work.

Smiling boosts your mood

Studies have shown that smiling can improve your mood, even if you don’t really feel like doing it. The thing is, your brain can’t tell when the smile is genuine and when it isn’t, so any kind of smiling does the trick. Improving your mood also means boosting your self-esteem, as you can’t really feel confident when you’re not feeling good. Moreover, smiling is also contagious, so you wouldn’t be improving only your mood – you’d also improve other people’s mood as well. And by making others smile, you can boost their self-esteem as well. So, essentially, you can create a positive loop of smiling, raising the spirits of everybody around you, and boosting your own confidence.

Smiling can make you look younger

Whether you’re a guy or a girl, smiling can make you look younger. This is because the muscles you use for smiling help lift up your face. Also, smiling faces are usually rated as more attractive, so they are naturally associated with youthfulness, beauty, and positive energy. Therefore, when you smile, you are more likely to be judged as younger than you are and generally more attractive. Additionally, as people age, most of them put more effort into looking younger. And while beauty creams, nice clothes, and a healthy diet can help, the thing that can help the most is having a nice smile and not hesitating to show it.

People often underestimate the importance of having a nice smile, since a bad smile is easy to hide. However, considering how much you can benefit from showing it in both your professional and personal life, your smile is not something you want to keep hidden. So, make sure it’s as healthy as it could be, don’t be afraid of smiling, and your self-esteem is bound to benefit from your smile in more ways than one.

We all have our own routine when it comes to skincare, we often just add a little moisturiser and head out the door, on other occasions we spend more time in the morning doing a cleanse, tone, and moisturise, and very occasionally we do the whole 7-step skincare routine that involves using a pre-cleanser, serum, eye cream and lip balm alongside the traditional cleanser, toner, and moisturiser.

Like all women and men who take care of their skin, #TeamCoco rarely take time to do the full 7-step skincare regime, but when we do, it’s like we’ve been for a relaxing and toning facial. So, what are you waiting for? Get your skincare products out and enjoy an evening in with just you, your bathroom mirror, and lots of gorgeous products.

We have compiled a list of a few of our favourite skincare products to assist with your 7-step skincare guide.

Pre-Cleanser / Make-up Remover

Using a pre-cleanser or a good makeup remover is essential to get your skin ready for the full skincare routine and helps to remove the top layer of makeup along with general dirt from the day’s elements.

Kind Natured Hydrating Micellar Cleansing Gel, priced at £8 (150ml), available from www.kindnatured.com or www.boots.com

Cleanser

Using a second cleanser is excellent for getting deeper under the layers of ingrained makeup, it can help to remove unwanted oils, and will also give a deep cleanse.

Clockface Beauty Facial Cleansing Balm, priced at £32 (120ml), available from www.clockfacebeauty.com

Toner

A toner will cool the face, and it will correct and balance the pH of your skin. A good toner can also help to close pores and fully clean the pores, resulting in little to no acne.

Alteya Organics Hydrating Flower Toner in Rose & Mullein, priced at £13 (120ml), available from www.lovelula.com

Serum

Using a serum straight after a toner will offer your skin valuable moisture, which in turn will give a firmer appearance and a smoother texture. A serum may even help to minimise pores.

Jane Scrivner Bioluronic Buzz, priced at £32 (50mg), available from www.janescrivner.com

Moisturiser

A moisturiser will not only prevent your skin from drying out throughout the day or night, but it will keep your natural waters and natural oils (that are good for your skin) within your skin’s surface.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Nourishing Moisturiser, priced at £20 (75ml), available from www.boots.co.uk or www.selfridges.com

Eye Cream

Using an eye cream on the delicate skin around the eye can help to slow the appearance of fine lines and even wrinkles, and it can also remove puffiness and dark circles from under the eye.

111SKIN was founded by Dr Yannis Alexandrides, a cosmetic surgeon who specialises in facial surgery, he also specialises in non-surgical procedures and looked to produce his own skincare products, the result is the brand 111SKIN.

111SKIN Sub-Zero De-Puffing Eye Duo, priced at £75 (20ml), available from www.111skin.co.uk or www.harrods.com

Lip Balm

We think of using a lip balm when our lips feel chapped, sore, or dry, but if you add a lip balm into your skincare routine you won’t regret it. A lip balm will hydrate, nourish, and seal in moisture to the most exposed part of your body. A perfect end to your 7-step skincare routine.

Lancôme Absolute Precious Cells Silky Lip Balm, priced at £43 (15ml), available from www.lancome.co.uk or www.harveynichols.com

Top 3 Makeup Products MUA Viorela Coman Can’t Live Without

We asked leading London makeup artist Viorela Coman, London’s Cruelty Free MUA (www.instagram.com/vior_ela) for her top 3 makeup products that she can’t live without.

Number 1. Concealer: Concealer has been a shiny star in the Art of Style and Makeup. For me, it is the first thing to grab when doing my make-up.

I will now share a secret with you: when people look at you, they see the whole of your face first, and only later they zoom in to analyse the details. The first impression is of amazing skin if you dab a bit of concealer under the eyes, around the nose and chin (these are the usual areas to have a different colouring naturally). Use a full-coverage, creamy concealer that doubles up as foundation on those occasions when you are caught off guard but still need to look your best.

Number 2. Bronzer: contouring is meant to give your face shape and dimension: it can emphasize those beautiful cheekbones, it can slim down, reshape, and add a just-back-from-holiday effect to your face. So yes, depending on how wisely you use it, it can make or break your look.

Make sure you blend it in and that you do not overdo it, don’t apply it too low/close to your nose since it can drag your whole face down.

Number 3. Mascara: Full-looking lashes for ah-mazing eyes, yes, please! This iconic cosmetic has been known to help women ever since 4000 BC and it does help me a lot too. Just one coat and it makes me look awake and ready for action – put a second coat on and the WOW factor is there! I am now ready for anything!

I hope my 3 must-have products have inspired you on your quest for a quick and effective make-up session and give you more confidence when walking out the door and taking over the world.

Yours, Viorela.
