Beauty Buys We Can’t Live Without This Summer…

Summer is practically half way through now and to be fair, we’ve had a pretty good run as far as British summer sun is concerned, so the House of Coco team has rounded up their favourite beauty products that have got them through the summer months so far, creating a list of classics and some new buys that are literally ‘can’t live without‘ beauty essentials. Hopefully there’s some more sun to come so read on for our top tips…

Hair-Perfume-Gloss-5

Scarlett, Beauty Editor  Thameen Hair fragrance (£85) is this years summer essential for me. It has saved my unwashed hair over the festival season, not only does it keep my hair smelling fresh and floral but strengthens it with Keratin protein and keeps it well hydrated in the summer sun with Argan Oil extract. Now a regular in my summer beauty bag! www.thameenfragrance.com

Kayleigh, Lifestyle Writer – I swear by L’Oreal’s Extraordinary Oil (£9.99), a godsend in humid heat abroad, but also light enough for applying daily to smooth tresses; it’s the best serum I’ve ever used! Guerlain Terracotta Light Bronzer (£35.50) is great on fair skin to give a natural glow and enhances a tan in summer. I love the mosaic of colours with just a hint of shimmer. www.loreal-paris.co.uk www.guerlain.com

We love British brands here at HOC and Oskia right now is winning awards for being the best. Their Super 16 Serum (£80) contains a new ground-breaking ingredient hailed as the new Retinol equivalent for sensitive skin, Bakuchiol. This ingredient is derived from Indian Babchi seeds which have been traditionally used for centuries to heal cuts, actively stimulates the three key processes associated with retinol but without the sensitivity associated with it – healthier, younger looking skin but without the cons! www.oskiaskincare.com

Vanessa, Fashion Writer – My best summer product is the Elemis Japanese Cameilla Body Oil Blend (£34). It’s perfect for hydrating all skin types, rids dry skin and helps to maintain your tan. It works wonders for your face too, without making it oily. A few drops in a hot bath gives that spa retreat atmosphere. I actually can’t live without it as it even manages to clear up the eczema around my eyes. www.elemis.com

& Other Stories Nail Colour’s (£5) follow the fashion trends with new colours to match each season’s ready-to-wear for an ever expanding cosmetic collection. We love the Angora pink and Twill blue for this summer season, matching our mani to our fave summer outfit. www.stories.com/gb/

Desmond, New York Reporter – I take Biotin supplements for hair skin and nails. I use a Clarisonic facial cleansing brush (£155) and I use the SeanBalm glowing skin care kit ($39.99). It comes with a lavender based cleanser, a powder based face mask and a moisturizer. The products are organic and simply amazing. Harsh products with parabens in them are horrible on my sensitive skin so I stick to things without any of them in it. www.clarisonic.co.uk www.seanbalm.com

The most stylish scent this summer comes from BYREDO‘s collaboration with Oliver Peoples (£105) where you can match the bottle colour of the new fragrance with your glasses! This explores the cross between sight and smell where the stimulation of one sense can involuntarily product an association with a different one. With fresh top notes of Juniper Berries and Californian Lemon, this is definitely one to snap up before summer’s out. byredo.com

Laura, Chief Editor – Hair Mayonnaise by Africas best, literally a life saver. its a leave in conditioner for curly hair which allows me to wake and shake smile emoticon you just leave it on after you have use shampoo and conditioner, allow it to dry naturally and then you have perfect curls – its made my hair stronger and more healthy.

Penny, Features Editor – Coconut oil! I use it in the shower after cleansing. I pop it on a scrub pad and scrub my body then use it to shave with too! It’s perfect for keeping your skin moist in a natural way, helps with shaving your legs and keeping them smooth and I always dab a little around my eyes afterwards. Summer MUST have!

If you’ve not come across the Labmakeup brushes yet, you soon will as these professional brushes are amazing quality at an affordable price! Designed by celeb makeup artist Brett Freedman, these pre-made sets are perfect for even the most amateur of makeup lovers and new to the UK. We are loving the Strokes of Genius eye brush set (£18.99) which is perfect for creating beautiful summer styles. www.lab2beauty.com www.superdrug.com

Lauren, Art Writer – I am currently loving two products this summer- the Lush shampoo bar ‘Godiva’ (£6.75) as you can chuck it in a carry on on the plane and not have to worry about the 100ml and under problem. It works as a conditioner and shampoo and leaves your hair with a gorgeous smell! It’s easy and simple but effective! The second is the Aesop demasican rose facial oil (£51), as it leaves the skin hydrated from flights and the heat, and smells incredible to boot! A little goes along way with this product and can be used as a multipurpose product- treatment oil, as a moisturiser or added to your nightcream to give your skin something extra. www.lush.co.uk www.aesop.com

Launched in June, Luxsit Anti-Blemish Gel (£19) is a soothing, calming mask to help prevent and stop breakouts that can occur when the weather season changes (and our British weather does enough of that!). This Swedish brand is leading the way in organic skincare, using only the finest organic and natural raw materials to create their full range of skincare products. Definitely a beauty bag fave all year round. www.luxsitorganic.com www.lovelula.com

Rai, Fashion Editor – Mine would be the Aesop Immediate Moisture Facial Hydrosol (£17). Now a must have in my hang bag at all times for a humid/hot/clammy day in the grimy city or on holiday, one quick spritz and I feel instantly calmer, refreshed and awake. Second product is the Seventeen wow! Skin 3 Way Higlighter (£5.99). This is practically identical to NARS’ copacabana illuminator and at a fraction of the NARS price tag. www.aesop.com www.boots.com
