Summer is nearly all wrapped up which means, before you know it, the Christmas countdown will begin, bringing with it, party season. It won’t take long before the diary starts filling up, whatsapp groups are being created and deposits for Christmas meals are being demanded. Plans, plans, plans…money, money, money!
If the thought of buying 100 new outfits is enough to send your bank balance into overdrive then fear not, here are a few ideas on how you can spend less, yet still look fabulously luxe…
Have a clear out
Firstly, go through your wardrobe, anything you have forgotten about? There’s bound to be a classic little black dress lurking somewhere. Just add a pair of statement earrings and a standout bag to bring the outfit bang up to date.
Use the eBay brand filter
Ebay is your friend! If you’re prepared to spend a lazy Sunday scrolling, then this is a great way to shop. Our top tip? Search by brand, you might just discover that sold out Topshop Unique gem for a fraction of the original price. You can thank us after the party!
Red lippie! It’s so simple and so effective. A splash of bright red lipstick can punch up any outfit.
Focus on the accessories
Can’t afford a whole new outfit? Then why not turn your attention to some cool new accessories. A new pair of wow-factor shoes or a metallic clutch bag can breathe life back into some of your old garms.
Keep your eyes peeled for designer sample sales. With sites like Chimi, or the ‘what’s on’ pages in Time Out Magazine, you can get your hands on high-end designer garments at seriously reduced prices. Or, pay a visit to some UK shopping outlets such as Hackney Walk or Bicester Village.
Are your girlfriends all feeling the same? Strapped for cash and expected to turn heads at many a Christmas event this year? Why not get together and host a clothes swap where one evening you all bring 10 pieces you’d be keen to swap, a bottle of vino and some nibbles and get swapping! So, so fun.
This is the easiest one of all. Hit up your local high street and get rummaging, you really will be so surprised at what you might stumble across. A cheap outfit isn’t the only perk, you’re giving money to charity too!
