It’s that time of year again, everyone’s down in the dumps, Christmas is over, money is hard and it feels like we’re waiting forever to get this blue month over with.
Here are House of Coco’s 7 tips to get over the January blues
- Treat yourself to a relaxing spa day
After a stressful, lazy or over partied Christmas it’s very important to chill out and get some rest. There’s nothing better than taking a trip to the spa to have a day full of pamper and relaxation. With a massage to release tension, a dip in a bubbly hot tub to sooth you and a moist facial to help your skin destress you will feel complete zen after a day of treatment. House of Coco’s favourite spots: Hartwell House, Temple Spa and Seaham Hall Spa.
2. Plan a holiday get away
Planning a summer vacation is always exciting and a good way to brighten your mood this month. Choosing the sunny destination, the perfect hotel and booking the flights – so much to look forward to. If you’re looking for a warm winter get away Mexico, Barbados and Thailand are all beautiful places to escape the gloomy weather with highs of 35 degrees. In the mean time while counting down it’s fun to read hotel reviews, discover and plan adventures and check out hot pics on Instagram of the location so you can no longer contain the excitement.
3. Retail therapy
Boxing day calls for one thing… sales! That lead into January. Great news for us shopaholics we can shop ’till we drop. That snake print Zara dress you seen weeks ago has now been reduced to £15. January is not so blue after all with the massive discount you can buy double the amount you normally would. A perfect little treat to make you feel fabulous.
4. Spend quality time with loved ones
Nothing lifts you up more than the spirit and positivity of your family and people who love you. A special bond and a good heart to heart can cheer you up massively. It doesn’t take a lot of effort either. Whether it be chilling out on the sofa watching films and eating pizza or having a chatter with a cup of tea. Their company is everything to make you feel better. After all, having somewhere to go is home, having someone to love is family and having both is a blessing.
5. Discover a new hobby
We all have a passion and plenty of interests we enjoy, but maybe this month it’s time to discover something new. It’s good to get out of your comfort zone and try something you wouldn’t normally be interested in. It also gives space away from stress to spend some you time and is super fun. Some cool hobbies to try out: Photography, learn a musical instrument, rock climbing and yoga.
6. Fun activities with friends
You can always rely on friends to have a fun filled weekend. Even the smallest activities from cinema, shopping, drinks and movie nights to dinner parties, concerts and city breaks. There’s plenty to do and it’s bound to be a bundle of laughs.
7. Goal setting
As it’s the new year there’s that cliché belief to make new years resolutions. However, House of Coco prefer to call it goal setting. It’s something you should do frequently instead of once a year. It’s time to inspire yourself for the year ahead. Goal setting helps to organise your time and resources to focus on where you want to be life and make the most of it while you can. Aim for the stars. If you believe you can achieve.
