Here at House of Coco we just love a mini-getaway, so we sent our Lifestyle Writer, Helena, for 24 hours in Barcelona, to sample the best G&T’s in the city, here’s what she got up to.
Upon arrival we were taken to the newly opened hotel, The Serras for a spot of lunch on the rooftop overlooking the Marina, as well as a little tour of the hotel. The hotel is already becoming exceedingly popular with tourists thanks to the amazing location and the classic modern & fresh room decor. Not to mention, breaking my G&T virginity which was perfectly refreshing for this amazing Summer weather. The lunch menu was amazing and of course, my favourite was the strawberry cheesecake-like dessert, what a treat.
Later that evening we went onto the Dry Martini Bar, which has been voted as one of the best 50 bars in world, and I definitely can understand why! The cutest little place that I never expected to look as it did on the outside with a hidden away Speakeasy restaurant which reminded me of something out of The Soprano’s with a bit of an old-English James Bond type of style. Still upholding their traditions from when first opening in 1978, they have counted how many Martini’s they have ever sold and now have a counter up on the wall showing they have just hit over the millionth mark! The classic dry Martini was sensational and I’d also recommend the Passion Martini which is a frozen and fruiter type, so delicious.
Onto the main event, sampling a slice of Mayfair at the OneOcean Club’s Blue Wave Cocktail bar, the award-winning Polo Bar’s pop-up will be launching here for a week starting on Wednesday 26th August 2015.
And what a breathtaking location… Overlooking the Marina Port Vell, OneOcean has established itself as one of the city’s hot spots since the opening this Spring, with such a relaxing atmosphere allowing you to appreciate the luxurious yachts and Barcelona’s skyline. The restaurant next door is a slice of sophistication, offering the utmost best on the menu and very generous with the seafood. We were served a feast of white fish cevice, lobster, black Alaskan cod and roasted lamb shoulder. And of course, Mezpresso Martini for dessert.
I have to add the food and drinks were both perfection.
For somebody like me who’s not the most experienced Gin drinker I was pleasantly surprised after having the opportunity to try the menu of 6 different infusions which have been specially hand blended on site, and created by two of London’s top mixologists: Polo Bar manager Elias Yiallouris and Tanqueray mixologist Tim Homewood. With Spain becoming the world’s largest gin consumer, this Summer Barcelona will offer the Polo Bar’s renowned G&T infusions. The menu brings together a mix of delicate flavours with the classic elegance of Mayfair, and I think it compliments OneOcean Club exceptionally well.
Thank you to The Dovetail Agency, OneOcean Club Barcelona, The Westbury Hotel’s Polo Bar & The Serras Hotel.
